McDonald, Karen (Black) – With great sadness, the family of Karen Marie McDonald( Black) of Norway House MB and originally from Hoyt, NB, announce the sudden passing of their cherished wife, mother, grandmother, at the  St-Boniface Hospital in Manitoba, June 8, 2017.  Born in Calgary, Alberta on September 5, 1962, she was the daughter of Joe Black and the late Grace Black (Gilbert).  Karen will be dearly missed by her husband Bill to whom she was married to for almost 31years.

Karen attended OHS (grad 1980), UNB (grad 1984) and began her teaching career in Norway House Manitoba. After 15 years of teaching in Norway House, she taught for 12 years in Ebb and Flow, and then returned to Norway House for the past two years.

She was a strong loving wife, a concerned patient teacher, and treasured family life with her four boys and Bill. As an eager volunteer in her community she, tirelessly, gave her best to all who were so fortunate to be a part of her life.

She lovingly bestowed her talented creations which included quilts and knitting on family, friends and numerous children.

Karen was an incredible woman, mother and teacher…loved by all that met her. Her kind, generous soul will be remembered by many of the lives that she touched forever.

Besides her husband Bill, Karen is survived by her children, Kevin, Steven, Brian, Jason ,grandson Rene Charles, sister Jo Ellen Sanford(Roland), Lincoln, NB,  brother, Brian Black (Catherine), Comox, BC, father Joe Black, Hoyt, NB, mother-in-law Tina McDonald, sister-in-law, Kathy Sutherland, brothers-in-law, Joseph (Sue-Ann), and Todd McDonald, along with several nieces and nephews and a very large, extended family.

Karen is pre-deceased by her mom, Grace Black, father-in-law Louis McDonald, and her brothers- in-law Mark Sanford and Gerald Sutherland.

 Family and friends are invited to Sunbury Funeral Home, Central Blissville NB on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 for visitations between 4 and 7 pm.  Funeral Service will be held at Sunbury Funeral Home on Wednesday June 14, 2017 at 3 pm with Father Martin Arputham officiating. Interment will be at the Patterson United Church Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
