We are grateful for the life of Margaret Eugenie DeWitt (née Desaulniers), born May 29, 1931, in Fredericton, N.B., who lived the past 28 years in Youngs Cove and died in Fredericton on January 18, 2017.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Gerald; sister Eleanor Long and brother Lawrence Desaulniers; children Donna Munn, Geraldine Blunston (Chris), Kenneth, and Steven (Michael Young); 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by parents Edna Brewer (née Haines) and Frederick Desaulniers; brothers Fred Jr. and Arthur; and son-in-law Eric Munn.

She and Gerry operated the Radio Shack store in Sussex for nearly 20 years and spent 23 winters in Sebring, Fla., before retiring to the shores of her beloved Grand Lake. Later in life, Marg loved word puzzles and crocheting hats to sell at the nearby tourism centre, but her favourite moments were spent with Gerry on their sundeck overlooking the lake, generously sharing the view and their homemade red wine with all visitors. Marg was the rock of her family, taking a practical outlook to life's challenges and cutting to the core of any problem with a keen eye and a kind heart. She was a model of quiet dignity and dedicated her life to Gerry and their children. 

For their touching support and hugs in her last days, she would want to thank the wonderful neighbours on Sunset Lane; Joyce Fairweather; Dr. Gowan and staff at DECH 3E; and Hospice House.
