Cornelia (Kety) Sya (den Engelse) Groenenberg

Groenenberg, (den Engelse) Cornelia Sya (Kety) of Fredericton Junction, NB, passed away on March 6, 2020. Kety, was born in Klundert, Netherlands on November 23, 1929 to the late Cornelia (van Dis) and Cornelis den Engelse and the widow of the late Hendrikus Groenenberg (2011).

Kety and Henk immigrated to Canada in 1981 with 3 of their 6 children, operating a potato farm in Carleton County before moving to Fredericton Junction.   She was a homemaker, and worked side by side with dad on the farm.  We remember her as a loving, caring mother who was always cheerful and never complained.  She lovingly cared for our dad as his health declined.  She will be remembered for her strong faith and commitment to her church.  In her spare time, Kety also enjoyed reading, quilting, playing cards, gardening and singing in the choir.  

Kety is survived by her daughter Annemarie (Tom) from Akkrum Netherlands, four sons; Kees (Agnes) from Venlo Netherlands, Dirk from Rusagonis, NB, Ad (Jose) of Brooks Alberta, Gerrit (Marlene) from Antigonish NS. Eight grandchildren were her pride and joy; Iris (Joep), Milou (Kyle), Marcia, Lisanne, Henry, Joost, Leo (Stephanie) and Sarah (Ryan), great grand children; Josina, Puk, Marly, Seph, Wies. She is also survived by three sisters, several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Henk and Parents, Kety is predeceased by daughter Corrie, son Huib, a brother and two sisters.

Relatives and friends are invited to Sunbury Funeral Home Tuesday March 10, 2020 from 4-7pm.  Funeral service will be at the Fredericton Junction United Baptist Church on Wednesday March 11, 2020 at 11am with Rev. Maurice Hatfield officiating.  Interment will be in the Blissville Cemetery in the spring. The family wishes to thank Naomi Verch for her homecare, Eloise Maynard for taking their mother to church, her caring neighbors of Kenbrook Estates and the doctors and nurses from the Oromocto Public Hospital for their care and compassion.
