Delia (Dale) Mae (Griffin) Lemieux

Delia (Dale) Mae Lemieux (Griffin), a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on May 29, 1934, on Wood Island, NB, she was the cherished daughter of the late Annie (Ross) and Sherman Griffin. Dale was also the devoted wife of the late Claude Lemieux.

Dale’s warmth and generosity touched everyone who knew her. She is deeply mourned by her daughters LaVerne Bil (Taddy), Linda Lou Lemieux (Bill), MaryAnn Lemieux, and Claudette Green (Glenn); her sons Joseph Lemieux and Francis Lemieux (Susie); and her sister, Doreen Akerley. She leaves behind seventeen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and four great great grandchild, and many dear nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored.

A compassionate soul, Dale spent her life caring for others, both at home and in her career as a supervisor at the Victoria Public Hospital. She was a dedicated member of her community, holding a lifetime membership with the Ladies Auxiliary Branch #55 in Fredericton Junction, NB. In her free time, Dale loved a spirited game of crib or darts and often brought laughter and joy to those around her. A remarkable four-time cancer survivor, Dale faced each challenge with resilience and strength, inspiring everyone with her unwavering spirit.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dale was predeceased by her daughter Delores Lemieux; her grandsons Joseph Bil and Winston Lemieux; her sisters Gertrude, Virginia, Jennie, and Ethel; and her brothers Billy, Winston, Donnie, Mariner, and Francis.

A private Celebration of Life with family and close friends will be held at her daughter LaVerne’s home at 3150 Route 640, Yoho, NB (Hanwell Road) on Saturday November 2nd from 1pm to 4pm to honor Dale’s memory and share stories of the love she so freely gave. The family extends special gratitude to the staff of Shannex Pavillon Medley Hall in Fredericton, NB, for their compassionate care and attention to Dale.
