Donald Meehan Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Donald Meehan on October 8, 2025.

Donnie was a loving man who always tried to put everyone’s needs ahead of his own. Donnie’s favourite pastimes were woodworking, fishing and most importantly his two grandchildren, Madison and Ellianna.

He began his life in Dartmouth, NS.  As a twin they were number six and seven out of a family of nine. Donnie coming thirteen minutes after brother David.

Wearing a uniform was his life, starting with cubs, cadets then off to the reserves and regular forces and then back to the reserves.  During his career he reached the pinnacle rank of Chief Warrant Officer and of course RSM (Regimental Sergant Major) of the school in CFB Gagetown and a time as RSM of the Combat Training Center. He truly cared for everyone he served with.

He retired in 2011 as Captain and returned to the reserves until he aged out at sixty years old.  A career that spanned from 1973 – 2018.

Donnie met his soul mate Cpl. Gloria Miller in 1979 and soon married in 1980.  They were blessed with three precious children Amy, Derek and Jonathan.

Donnie is predeceased by his son Derek, parents David and Dora Meehan, Mother and Father-in-law, Ramona and Raymond Miller, sisters; Barbara Hunt, Tanya Janc, nephew Dalton Miller and niece Laura Fralic.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife; Gloria, daughter; Amy (Mike) Cliff, son; Jonathan (Jennifer) Meehan, granddaughters; Bronte, Madison, Ellianna  brothers; Johnny (Lynn) Skurdaskas, David (Carole) Meehan, Patrick Meehan, sisters; Harriet Meehan, Donna (Zane) Kean, Cheryl Meehan,  brother-in-law; Ronald (Crystal) Miller, sister-in-law; Wendy (Duke) Gooding, many nieces, nephews & good friends he considered family.

Celebration of life to take place Wednesday October 15, 2025 at 1 pm at the Burton Lions Club with lunch to follow the service.  Interment at Mactaquac Community Cemetery.
