It is with great sadness our family wishes to announce the passing of Donna (Donalta) Ann McLaughlin on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital.
She was born Donalta Ann MacPherson on March 13, 1941 to the late Martha (Cook) and Wesley MacPherson and married the love of her life, Glen McLaughlin, on September 19, 1964.
She is survived by daughters, Megan and Annemieke (Brent), grandchildren Jessica (Jason), Marissa (Wayne), Spencer (Amy), Isaiah, Wesley and Brooklyn, as well as great grandchildren Sylar, Nathaniel, Bentlee, Scarlett, Annalise, Harlowe, Kiara, and Alice. She is also survived by her brother, Robert John (Rita), sisters in law Ardith, Margo, Shirley, Phyllis and Charlene, and brother in law, Owen. She was the treasured aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Her loving husband, Glen, passed away in 1998. She is also pre-deceased by her brothers John, Claude (Judy) and Malcolm and brothers in law, Edgar, Garth, Lloyd, Gene and sisters in law, Joan and Alice.
She was best known for her amazing baking, mostly her homemade bread and rolls. She loved to read and knit. She was very involved in her church. She volunteered on various committees, but her favourite role was volunteering at her grandchildren’s school where she was known as Nanny Donna to everyone. After her girls were grown, she returned to the workforce and enjoyed many years working in the Plastic Surgeon’s office.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 1 pm at St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Tracy. Please join us for a reception at the Gladstone Curling Club in Fredericton Junction to follow.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Oromocto Food Bank or St. Mark’s Cemetery Fund in her honour.
A special thanks to the staff of White Rapids Manor for her care over the last four years, as well as the Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital.
