Doris Norrine (Gillett) Shannon

Shannon, Doris Norrine (Gillett) – With great sadness, the family of Doris Norrine Shannon of Hoyt NB announce the passing of their cherished wife, mother, grandmother, Doris Norrine Shannon of Hoyt NB, at the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital on November 1, 2015.  Born in Hoyt, NB on January 23, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Dolly Charlton and Roy Gillett.  Doris will be dearly missed by her husband George Shannon to whom she was married to for 53 years.

Besides her husband George, Doris is survived by one loving daughter Bonnie Shannon (Ron Black) of Hoyt, two sons; Ron Shannon (Sue) of Wirral and Darrell Shannon (Sharon) of Fredericton, five grandchildren; Devin Shannon (Frederique Morneau), Courtney (Jared) Boudreau and Cody Shannon (Taylor Price), Cassandra Van Wart (Sheldon Perry)and Kaylee VanWart (Drake Harris), two sisters; Lois (Norman) Worden, Theresa Butler, one brother George Gillett, all of Hoyt, a very special great granddaughter Abigail Perry and several nieces and nephews .Along with Doris’s parents, she is also predeceased by two brothers Harry and Gerald, two sister’s in law Martha and Anna Gillett and one brother in law Howard Butler. Doris was a member of Ways and Means Committee; she worked at C.F.B. Gagetown as a kitchen helper, then stayed home to raise her family when the children arrived.  She was a care giver to many children in the area and loved it, she said it was the best years of her life, and was always there for her many grandchildren.  Family and friends are invited to Sunbury Funeral Home, Central Blissville NB on Wednesday November 4 for visitations between 2-4 and 6-8pm.  Funeral Service will be held at Blissville Baptist Church on Thursday November 5, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. Bob Johnston officiating. Interment will be at the Blissville Cemetery following the service.
