Doris (Nan) Irene (Wooden) Rice

Rice, Doris Irene (Wooden) – With great sadness, we announce the passing of Doris Rice of Wirral, NB, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Oromocto Public Hospital on January 15, 2016. Doris was born in Hoyt, NB on January 13, 1919 to the late Dora Kirkpatrick and Jack Wooden. Doris was predeceased by her husband John Rice.

Doris enjoyed raising her family, having her Sunday dinners, listening to country music especially Waylon Jennings and many called her Nan.

Doris is survived by her children; Pauline Benjamin, Sylvia Henderson, Charlie (Nancy), Richard, Carl (Donna), Brian (Rhea), David (Debbie), Yvonne (Buster), Bruce (Tabatha), Chris, and Terry (Gail), two sisters; Eva Ogden and her twin Dorothy Tower, Daughter  in law Brenda Rice, very special granddaughter Debbie Kenny and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was pre-deceased by three children; infant Doris Irene, Howard Rice and Arthur Rice, two brothers; Irvine Wooden and Albert Wooden, three sisters; Pearl Phillips, Marjorie McKenna and Geraldine Charlton,Sons in law: Reginald Benjamin(Pauline's husband),Donald Henderson(Sylvia's husband), daughter in law; Karen Rice(Howards Wife).

Family are planning a private Committal service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in Doris’s name to White Rapids Manor or a  charity of donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Sunbury Funeral Home, Blissville, NB.
