Nowlan, Douglas Shaughney (Shawn)
With heavy hearts the family of Douglas (Shawn) Nowlan sadly announces his passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on November 16, 2023. Shawn was born April 2, 1948, in Dartmouth NS to the late Valerie and Joseph Nowlan. He was the loving husband of Pearl (Nason) Nowlan for over 17 years.
Shawn will be dearly missed by his wife Pearl, his children in Australia Danielle (Mick) Pearce and Shannon (Cherie) Nowlan, a sister Marthe (Ken) Cleveland, three brothers; David, Peter (Diane) and Mark (Melissa) Nowlan, five grandchildren Brodie, Grace and Riley Pearce, Jade and Cooper Nowlan, aunt Dorilla Nowlan, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shawn was predeceased by his Father - Joseph Robert (Bob). Mother - Valerie Norine, brother Joseph Robert Nowlan, and uncles Peter (Betty), Yvon, Frank (Eva), Roger (Mary), Clarence (Marie) Nowlan and Aunts Yola Nowlan and Lois (Jim) Legere.
Shawn was a hard worker who could never sit still. He always provided for his family. He was a loving husband to Pearl. He also loved the indigenous culture of Australia and loved sharing his experiences with his Canadian friends and family. The few times he was able to see his grandchildren he left a lasting impact with many laughs and great memories. Shawn was very generous, and kind to the church and friends in any way he could.
Family and friends are invited to a Graveside Service on Sunday Nov 19, 2023 at 3pm, in the South Oromocto Lake Cemetery with Mr Shane Kruse officiating. The family wishes to invite people to a Reception at the Hoyt Fall Fair Hall following the internment.
