Gary Bernard Loring Noble passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, at White Rapids Manor in the village of Fredericton Junction, New Brunswick. Born on January 12, 1947, in that same village, he was the son of the late Herbert (Ted) and Leona (Phillips) Noble.
Gary is predeceased by his wife Greta Alice Christine (Thomas) Noble and is survived and mourned by his daughters Karrie-Ann Giardino and Terri-Jane (Mike Nickerson) Noble. He is also survived by his sister Darla (Stephen) Scott, and several nieces and nephews.
Gary, or Pookies as he was lovingly referred to by them, is also survived by Greta’s daughters Susan (Billy) Curtis, Kathy Gallant, and son Steven (Angie) Gallant along with several grandchildren.
Gary was also predeceased by his siblings, Milton Noble, Terrence Noble, Janice McLean, Carole Neal and Sharon Nason; as well as Greta’s son Derek Gallant.
Gary was a heavy equipment operator by trade and worked many years for NB Power in their Transmission Services division hauling equipment all over the province. All those nights spent in hotels finally paid off when he won a trip to Jamaica for his and Greta's honeymoon. It was in Jamaica that he developed his love for Bob Marley’s music with “One Love” being one of his favorites. Perhaps Bob’s music speaks to his easy-going nature of always having a friendly smile and gentlemanly handshake. Gary retired from NB Power in 2012 at age 65 and took up hanging out with a group of gentlemen every week at “Coffee Row” at Sonny’s in Beaverdam and then again for breakfast in the Junction at the Sunbury Diner.
Gary enjoyed tinkering with his vehicles, whether they be modern ones or his antiques. In recent years, he enjoyed his 1937 International Harvester truck that he purchased while living in Saskatchewan when he moved there in 2021 to be close to his eldest daughter. While he didn’t have it for long before he became ill, he was very proud of it, showing off pictures of it to whomever he could. Gary was diagnosed with dementia in early 2025 and went into a care home in Esterhazy, SK soon after. When he got sick, he told his daughter he just wanted to go home and in early 2026, his wish was granted.
The family would like to thank all the staff at White Rapids Manor for taking such special care of Dad in the short time that he was there. Thank you to everyone that came to visit him as it certainly made his stay there welcoming.
A funeral service will take place in July along with internment at the Gladstone Cemetery in Fredericton Junction. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the White Rapids Manor mini-bus operation fund or a charity one's choice.
