McAleer, Herman Leroy
It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of Herman LeRoy McAleer, born in McAdam NB on Feb 10, 1935, son of Gordon and Bernice McAleer, passed away peacefully on Nov 10, 2023, at the Moncton Hospital.
Roy, as he was known to friends and family, was survived by his wife, Lois Ellen (Wheaton) McAleer, son Clayton (Kelly) McAleer, daughters Ellen (Marc) Eagles and April (Keith) Poirier as well as 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Curtis, sisters Dorothy and Mae, and one son Daniel Edward McAleer.
Roy was an avid hunter and fisherman, loving to be outdoors and busy. He worked for NBTel for 37years, living in Woodstock, Saint John and Riverview. Roy always put family first, was a great teacher and a mentor for everyone in the family. Anytime we were successful in any way, from school marks to excelling in our professional lives, he would always say “Well, I would expect nothing less. You get it from me!!”
Our family would like to thank the staff in Trauma, the Family Medical Unit and Palliative Care at the Moncton Hospital. A special thank you to Dr. (Lucy) Gormley and Dr. Mansfield for their extraordinary care and understanding.
A service for Roy will be held at 11am, Saturday, Nov 18th, 2023, at the Patterson United Church. He will be buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in Clarendon. There will be a gathering at the Church following the burial. Donations can be made to Patterson United Church or the charity of your choice.
