Janet (Jennie) Pauline (Rice) Pettie

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Janet (Jennie) Pauline (Rice) Pettie, on May 11, 2025, in Oromocto, NB.  Born on May 6, 1957, in Fredericton Junction, NB, Jennie was the daughter of the late George Victor (Frank) Rice and Dorothy (Robinson) Rice.

Jennie is survived by sons Jamie (Kathleen) Pettie of Burton, NB; and Brad (Julie Bird) Pettie of Tracey, NB; and daughter Katlin Pettie of Grand Prairie, Alberta, grandchildren C. Anne-Marie Pettie, Brennan Pettie, Hunter Pettie and Hayden Pettie.  Jennie will also be remembered by brothers Jim (Karen) Rice, Wayne (June) Rice, Dale Rice, and Paul Rice and sisters, Vivian (Stephen) Rice, and Dixie Albert, along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jennie was predeceased by her brother Joe (Lizette) Rice and sisters Effie (late Lloyd) McLaughlin, Donna Jean (George Lewis) Kilpatrick, Betty Lou McDonald, and Sharon Rice.

Jennie was known for wreath making throughout the holiday season.  She once placed second in a regional wreath making competition held in Woodstock, NB.   She also enjoyed baking, crafting, and playing darts.

A special thank you to niece Judy Hickey, the staff of the NB Extra Mural Program and Kindred Home Care, for all the care and attention they provided to Jennie. In accordance with Jennie’s wishes, there will be no visitation.  A graveside service for family will take place at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the Wirral United Baptist Church Cemetery.
