John Henry Whittaker

Whittaker, John Henry, of Hoyt, NB, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on April 19, 2021.  John was born in Fredericton Junction, NB on September 28, 1953 to the late Joan (Englehart) and Cecil Whittaker and husband of 5years to Lea Timoti Whittaker.

John was in the military for 33 years and retired as a Warrant Officer.  He was getting ready to retire when he started chatting with a lady online from Australia.  John loved to tell people the story of how he and Lea met.  When their phone bills got over $1500 a month, they decided they should meet in person, they married in 2016.  They enjoyed their retirement together, spending time with his son and having his daughter and grandson home for visits. He also loved his family in New Zealand.

Along with his wife, John is survived his son Jeffrey Whittaker, his daughter Susan Feiertag (Thad), two brothers; Alfred (Lillian) and Stanley (Trudy), his only grandson Haytham, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, John is also predeceased by a brother Jim Whittaker.

 Relatives and friends are invited to Sunbury Funeral Home on Friday April 23, 2021 from 3-6 pm.  Because of the limitations on gatherings, the funeral is by invitation only. Interment will take place at The Patterson United Church Cemetery. For those who wish, donations to the Legion Branch #55 would be appreciated by the family.
