It is with heavy hearts that the family of Shirley Marie (Gallant) Welton announce her passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on June 25, 2022 at the age of 81 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Albert Welton, her children Gail (Dennis) VanWart, Larry (Karen) Welton, Eugene (Wendy) Welton, Karen (Alden) Smith, Rickey (Susan) Welton and special friend Francine Harnish.  She also had a special place in her heart for her cat Clint.

Shirley will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Derek, Vanessa, Taylor, Jeremy, Holly, Pattie, Andrew, Cass, Kaylee and their spouses, 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews plus her extended family brother Francis (Mildred) LeBlanc, sisters Theresa (Don) Harnish, Lorraine Bawn, Joan Brown and sister-in-law Margaret LeBlanc.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Josephine (LeBlanc) Gallant, sister Dorothy Gallant, daughter Sherry Welton, grand-parents Louis and Alice LeBlanc who raised Shirley from the age of 8 after losing both of her parents and uncle Willard LeBlanc who she thought of as a brother.

Shirley was born in Amherst, N.S. on September 21, 1940 and lived in North Alton, N.S. before moving to Wirral, N.B.  She truly loved her job of 25+ years driving school bus and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 55 in Fredericton Junction.  Shirley had a huge heart and enjoyed caring for others.  She loved to cook and was well known for her delicious fudge.

Special thanks to Dr. John Richardson who went above and beyond with his care of "Doctor" Shirley.  Also thank you to the staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Emergency Department and Extra-Mural for their excellent care.

As per Shirley's wishes, there will be no visitation.  Burial at St. Columba Catholic Cemetery will take place at a later date.  You may express your sympathy by making a donation to the Tri-County Complex in Fredericton Junction, the Hospice House in Fredericton or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are in the Professional Care of Sunbury Funeral Home, Central Blissville, NB (368-2413). Condolences:sunburyfuneralhome.com
