Kantor, Stephen (Butch)
With heavy hearts the family of Stephen (Butch) Kantor sadly announces his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on November 3, 2023, with his loving family at his side. Stephen was born November 20, 1948, in Minto NB to the late Annie (Burbery) and Joseph Kantor. He was the loving husband of Wendy (Masson) Kantor.
Stephen will be dearly missed by his wife Wendy, sons, Stephen (Shannon) Kantor Jr. and Donald Lucas, a daughter, Cyndal Lucas, two sisters Debbie Hawkins, and Mary (Bill) Shaw, 3 brothers; George (Barbara MacKenzie), Robert (Beverly) and Paul (Chris), 5 grandchildren; Lukus, Shayla, Cooper, Sawyer and Rowan with several nieces and nephews.
Stephen was predeceased by his first wife, Sharon Roy, grandparents; Harry and Mabel Burbery, Joseph and Rose Kantor of Hungary.
Stephen was employed as a Custodian II as well as a Storeman/Driver for 38 years in School District 6 School Board (currently known as Anglophone South). Stephen also served in the Military as a gunner in the Artillery Division. Stephen was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church and enjoyed participating in many Church's activities.
Stephen was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was an avid bowler and loved camping with his wife. He especially enjoyed Friday night poker and playing the jokester around the campfire, always with a twinkle in his eyes, trying to get a good laugh (some jokes being a little risqué). He loved horseshoes and bingo because they played with chocolate bars. Stephen’s love of sweets was evident as he loved to walk, rain or shine, to Mrs. Dunster Donuts for the free sugar donut that came with the coffee and pick up treats for his family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Stephen's life on November 10, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 4 Church Ave., Rothesay with Father Paul Rideout Officiating. Reception to follow the service. The burial will be at Ocean View Memorial, Latimore Lake Rd. Cemetery.
