Mersereau, Treston Weldon – With great sadness, the family wishes to announce the passing of Treston Mersereau, at the White Rapids Manor on August 18, 2015 surrounded by his family. Treston was born in Tracy, NB, on January 7, 1931 to the late Sadie Mullin and John Mersereau.
Treston is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Doris (nee Byers) Mersereau, two sons; Michael (Cindy Riley) Mersereau of Fredericton and Randy (Catherine) Mersereau of Blissville, one sister Janet Duplisea of Tracy, six grandchildren; Jennifer Mersereau, Jerry (Jessica) Mersereau, Shawn Mersereau, Jeff (Kristy) Mersereau, Julie Mersereau and Josh Riley, five great-grandsons; Jordan, Josh, Christopher, Luke and Beckham and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by brother and sisters-in-law Freeman and Betty Byers and Bernie and Janet McCann.
Treston was a Section man, Brakeman and Engineer with Canadian Pacific Railway. He belonged to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He also was a member of Gladstone Curling Club and the Fredericton Junction Masons #42 Sunbury Lodge. Treston was an avid hunter, woodsman a guide and loved to spend time at Moosehead Lodge with family and friends. He was a sportsman, playing ball and curling for many years. He loved attending community events, dances, hockey games and took every opportunity to socialize with his many friends and extended family members.
Along with Treston’s parents, he is also pre-deceased by a brother-in-law Doug Duplisea. Through tragic events, Treston is also pre-deceased by a sister and brother-in-law Lanore and Payson Nason and sister-in-law Beryl Byers Norrad Tracy. Following these tragedies Treston and Doris opened their home to their nieces and nephews of these families.
Visitations will take place at Sunbury Funeral Home in Central Blissville NB on Friday August 21, 2015 at 1pm with the service following at 2pm with Rev. James Harrison officiating. Interment will be in the Blissville Cemetery following the service. If you wish, donations may be made in Treston’s memory to the White Rapids Manor Mini Bus or a charity of donor’s choice.
