Mersereau, Trevor Eugene – Trevor Mersereau of Fredericton Junction, NB, passed away at the Veteran’s Health Unit in Fredericton, NB, on January 17, 2014. Trevor was born in Tracyville on May 16, 1923 to the late Freda May (Noble) and Winslow James Mersereau. He was predeceased by his wife Lois Christine (Phillips) Mersereau.
Trevor was a life member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #55 and in the last few years was an adopted veteran of Branch #55 Ladies’ Auxiliary. Trevor served in the Second World War, serving in France, Belgium, Holland, Netherlands and Germany. After the war was over, he stayed on with the Occupation Force for two years. Upon returning to his homeland, he joined the Corps of the Commissionaires based at Camp Gagetown.
Spending time at the camp fishing and hunting was Trevor’s favorite past time. He loved playing cards, for many years attended card parties twice a week, and he enjoyed playing crib also. He took pleasure in doing word search puzzles and enjoyed the company of family.
Trevor is survived by two sisters: Ruth Lindfors (Robert), Delaware, USA and Dorothy Phillips (Noel) of Mazerolle Settlement; three sisters-in-law: Pearl, Alice, Eileen; one step-daughter, Jacqueline Swan, Fredericton; step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and parents, Trevor was predeceased by three sisters: Donna Hoyt, Judy Beers and Ida Scott; four brothers: Raymond, Vernon, Hilton and Glenwood; one sister-in-law, Joyce; and two brothers-in-law: Scovil Hoyt and Frank Scott.
Family and friends are invited to Sunbury Funeral Home for visitations on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be at Sunbury Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 2pm. Interment will be at a later date.
