Sending my heartfelt condolences to Leah, Heather, David, Danny and the  MacDonald family. Elmo's was a remarkable man and I have had the chance to pray for him and his family as he traveled his path in recent years.  I will always remember his singing during Come Home Week Celebrations, his talent for playing and building mandolins and the remarkable bicycle trip he and Leah made to Halifax. The latter still boggles my mind as I appreciate how difficult that must have been. I remember their summer home- the school bus across from the old Manning homestead.
You are in my thoughts and prayers as you carry your heavy hearts.  May Elmo enjoy his eternal peace with our Lord.

We send condolences to Elmo's family at this time of sorrow. We knew Elmo by reputation and through Ed and Anne Smith. Our grandson, David, who is also a musician treasures the beautiful mandolin crafted by Elmo and gifted to him by his Great-grandmother and Great Grandfather, Helen and Bennet.

Rest in peace, surrounded by the sweet music from the many instruments he so lovingly crafted

Dear Leah and family, So sorry to hear of Elmo's passing. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.
I worked with Elmo many years ago at L&A Machine works. He was a gentleman and a fun guy to work with, always making his lovely guitars and mandolins for the world to enjoy. We have lost another old friend but retain so many great memories. Although I did not see Elmo much over the past few years, when we worked together those many years ago , he left a very positive mark in my life and I have thought of those days and what a great person he was.I was proud to say I knew him. R.I.P my friend.

Dear Leah and Family and Elmo´s Family,

Thinking of you prayerfully and in trust that God´s strength and comfort will be provided according to each of your needs. Especially during the last few years when I would be visiting the Junction, my talks and walks with Elmo were really special. Not only his friendly personality, but too, his creative gifts, as well as, his adventureous spirit to enjoy and interact with nature were unique and surely admired by all who knew him. As you would know, before my coming to Germany, my life´s journey often involved the lives of the MacDonald family and I will always be thankful for their influence and blessing for my life.
Sincerely,
Vaughan O´Leary

My family and I would like to add our condolences to the many others you are receiving.  My husband, Stirling, who passed away 2 years ago, always enjoyed playing with and talking to Elmo.  We managed to surprise him with a guitar that Elmo had made and how he treasured that instrument.  We pray that God's strength and comfort will be with you now and in the years ahead.

Elmo was a talented musician and played with the Come Home Boys for my Dad's funeral in 1984.Last August, at our SWRHS 55th class reunion  I had the privilege of playing a guitar that Elmo had built. I have a CD of the group, with Leah singing a lovely song. Such an inspiration to all. Thanks to Elmo for all of his music. My condolences are with Leah and his family.
