Whittaker, Eldon Francis.  It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of  Eldon Francis Whittaker, surrounded by his family on October 19th, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.   Born in Sand Brook, Queens County, NB, on April 22nd 1926, he was the son of the late Frank and Lucinda (Whithers) Whittaker.

Eldon taught school in Sand Brook.  He was a man of all trades, especially mechanics and woodworking.  In the 1960’s he operated service stations for Irving Oil Ltd as well as his own White Rose Station.  He later worked for the Department of Transportation as a plow operator, and later as Road Supervisor.  He was an accomplished wood worker and his family have many treasured pieces in their homes.

Eldon was well respected by his many friends and cousins, especially the Walter and George Whittaker families.  He was known for his strong, calm, positive attitude.  He was a mentor to many young men starting out life.  He will be missed by everybody.

Dad was known for his devotion to his wife Margaret and his family.  He is survived by his wife Margaret (Parks) Whittaker, two daughters: Robin Naish (Arthur) and Natalie Granger (John), two sons: John (Patricia) and Gerald (Juanita), five grandchildren and six great grandchildren, three brothers: Donald, Ralph and Douglas, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by his brothers Glen, Morris and Lloyd, his sisters Mary and Margaret.

Visitation will take place on Sunday October 23, 2016 at the Sunbury Funeral Home, Central Blissville, NB, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.   Funeral service will be at the funeral home on Monday October 24, 2016 at 2pm with Rev. George Howe officiating.  Interment will be held at the Patterson United Church Cemetery.  Donations in Eldon’s memory may be made to a charity of the donors’ choice.  Arrangements are in the care of Sunbury Funeral Home in Central Blissville (506)368-2413.
